Design Editor Shortcuts
Keyboard shortcuts in the Design Editor help you work faster and more efficiently. Instead of clicking through menus, you can use quick key combinations to edit, select, and manage your designs.
Essential Editing Shortcuts
Section titled “Essential Editing Shortcuts”These are the shortcuts you’ll use most often:
Undo and Redo
Section titled “Undo and Redo”| Shortcut (Mac) | Shortcut (Windows/Linux) | Action |

| Cmd + Z | Ctrl + Z | Undo your last action |
| Cmd + Y | Ctrl + Y | Redo your last undone action |
| Cmd + Shift + Z | Ctrl + Shift + Z | Redo (alternative shortcut) |
When to use:
- Made a mistake? Press Cmd+Z (or Ctrl+Z) to undo
- Changed your mind? Press Cmd+Y (or Ctrl+Y) to redo
- Works for any action: moving elements, changing colors, deleting objects, etc.
Example workflow:
- Move an element to a new position
- Don’t like it? Press Cmd+Z to move it back
- Actually, that was fine. Press Cmd+Y to move it again
Copy and Paste
Section titled “Copy and Paste”| Shortcut (Mac) | Shortcut (Windows/Linux) | Action |

| Cmd + C | Ctrl + C | Copy selected elements |
| Cmd + V | Ctrl + V | Paste copied elements |
When to use:
- Copy elements to duplicate them quickly
- Copy from one design and paste into another
- Create multiple versions of the same element
How it works:
- Select one or more elements (shapes, text, images)
- Press Cmd+C (or Ctrl+C) to copy
- Press Cmd+V (or Ctrl+V) to paste
- The pasted elements appear slightly offset from the originals
Save Your Work

| Cmd + S | Ctrl + S | Save your design |
When to use:
- Save your progress frequently
- Quick save without clicking the Save button
- Works just like clicking “Save to Library”
What happens:
- If your design is already saved, it updates the existing save
- If it’s a new design, it opens the save dialog
Selection Shortcuts
Section titled “Selection Shortcuts”Select All

| Cmd + A | Ctrl + A | Select all elements on the canvas |
When to use:
- Select everything to move all elements at once
- Apply a style to all elements (like changing opacity)
- Delete everything and start over
- Copy everything to paste into another design
What gets selected:
- All shapes, text, images, and drawings
- Does NOT select the canvas background or workspace
Example workflow:
- Press Cmd+A to select everything
- Change the opacity to 50% in the sidebar
- All elements become semi-transparent at once
Delete Elements
Section titled “Delete Elements”| Shortcut | Action |

| Delete | Delete selected elements |
| Backspace | Delete selected elements (alternative) |
When to use:
- Remove unwanted elements quickly
- Clean up your design
- Delete multiple elements at once
How it works:
- Select one or more elements
- Press Delete or Backspace
- Selected elements are removed immediately
Navigation Shortcuts
Section titled “Navigation Shortcuts”Fit to Screen
Section titled “Fit to Screen”| Shortcut (Mac) | Shortcut (Windows/Linux) | Action |

| Cmd + 0 | Ctrl + 0 | Fit design to screen (zoom to fit) |
When to use:
- Zoom out to see your entire design
- Reset zoom after zooming in or out
- Get a full view of your canvas
What it does:
- Adjusts zoom so your entire design fits in the visible area
- Centers the design on the canvas
- Useful when you’ve zoomed in too much
Pan Canvas
Section titled “Pan Canvas”| Shortcut | Action |

| Spacebar (Hold) | Activate Hand tool to pan |
When to use:
- Move around the canvas without changing tools
- Navigate while zoomed in
How it works:
- Hold Spacebar and drag to move the view
- Release Spacebar to return to your previous tool
Shortcut Tips and Best Practices
Section titled “Shortcut Tips and Best Practices”When Shortcuts Don’t Work
Section titled “When Shortcuts Don’t Work”Shortcuts won’t trigger when:
- You’re typing in a text field (editing text)
- You’re typing in an input box (like search)
- A dialog or modal is open and focused
Solution: Click outside the text field first, then try the shortcut again.
Mac vs Windows/Linux
Section titled “Mac vs Windows/Linux”- Mac: Use Cmd (⌘) key
- Windows/Linux: Use Ctrl key
- Everything else is the same
Learning Shortcuts
Section titled “Learning Shortcuts”Start with these essentials:
- Cmd+Z / Ctrl+Z - Undo (you’ll use this constantly)
- Cmd+S / Ctrl+S - Save (save often!)
- Delete / Backspace - Delete elements
- Cmd+C / Ctrl+C and Cmd+V / Ctrl+V - Copy and paste
Then learn: 5. Cmd+A / Ctrl+A - Select all 6. Cmd+Y / Ctrl+Y - Redo 7. Cmd+0 / Ctrl+0 - Fit to screen
Common Workflows
Section titled “Common Workflows”Quick duplication:
- Select element
- Cmd+C to copy
- Cmd+V to paste
- Move pasted element to desired position
Trial and error:
- Make a change
- Don’t like it? Cmd+Z to undo
- Try something else
- Repeat until perfect
Bulk operations:
- Cmd+A to select all
- Apply style (opacity, color, etc.)
- Or Delete to remove everything
Quick save:
- Press Cmd+S frequently while working
- Never lose your progress
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”Shortcuts Not Working
Section titled “Shortcuts Not Working”Problem: Pressing a shortcut does nothing.
Solutions:
- Make sure you’re not typing in a text field
- Click on the canvas first to focus it
- Check that you’re using the correct key (Cmd on Mac, Ctrl on Windows)
- Try clicking outside any dialogs or modals
Accidentally Deleted Something
Section titled “Accidentally Deleted Something”Problem: Pressed Delete and removed something important.
Solution: Press Cmd+Z (or Ctrl+Z) immediately to undo.
Can’t Select All Elements
Section titled “Can’t Select All Elements”Problem: Cmd+A / Ctrl+A doesn’t select everything.
Solution: Make sure you’re clicking on the canvas first, not on a sidebar or dialog.
Copy/Paste Not Working
Section titled “Copy/Paste Not Working”Problem: Copied something but can’t paste it.
Solutions:
- Make sure you selected elements before copying
- Click on the canvas before pasting
- Try copying again - sometimes the clipboard gets cleared
