Connection Issues

Connection issues prevent you from connecting your social media accounts to IDEQO. This guide helps you troubleshoot and fix common connection problems.

Symptoms:

  • Error message when trying to connect an account
  • Redirected back to IDEQO with an error
  • “Connection Failed” notification

Common Causes:

  • Network connectivity issues
  • Browser extensions interfering with redirects
  • Platform-specific requirements not met

Fix:

  1. Check your internet connection - Ensure you have a stable connection
  2. Disable browser extensions - Ad blockers or privacy extensions can interfere with OAuth redirects
  3. Try a different browser - Some browsers block redirects or cookies more aggressively
  4. Try again - Temporary platform outages can cause connection failures

Symptoms:

  5. The connection should be restored

”Access Denied” or “Permission Denied”

Section titled “”Access Denied” or “Permission Denied””

Symptoms:

  • Platform shows “Access Denied” during connection
  • IDEQO shows “Permission Denied” error

Fix:

  1. Grant all requested permissions - Click “Allow” for all permissions during setup
  2. Check platform account settings - Ensure you have admin rights for the page/account
  3. Try disconnecting and reconnecting - Refreshing permissions often resolves this

Common Problems:

  • Account must be Business or Creator (not Personal)
  • Facebook Page must be connected to Instagram account
  • You must be an admin of the linked Facebook Page

Fix:

  1. Convert to Business/Creator account in Instagram app
  2. Link Instagram to a Facebook Page via Instagram settings
  3. Verify you are an admin of the Facebook Page
  4. Try connecting again

Common Problems:

  • Must connect a Facebook Page (not personal profile)
  • Must be an admin of the Page
  • Page must be published

Fix:

  1. Ensure you are connecting a Page, not your personal profile
  2. Verify you are an admin of the Page
  3. Check that the Page is published
  4. Try connecting again

Common Problems:

  • Company Pages: Must be a Super Admin or Content Admin
  • Personal Profiles: Supported, but may have limited API access depending on LinkedIn settings

Fix:

  1. For Company Pages, verify your admin role in LinkedIn
  2. For Personal Profiles, ensure your account is active and verified
  3. Check LinkedIn’s API status if connection fails repeatedly
  4. Try connecting again

Common Problems:

  • Google Account must have a YouTube Channel created
  • Channel must be verified for certain features (like custom thumbnails)

Fix:

  1. Go to YouTube Studio and ensure a channel exists for your Google Account
  2. Verify your channel phone number for full feature access
  3. Grant all requested permissions during connection

Common Problems:

  • Production: Must install the IDEQO app via the Shopify App Store
  • Development: Direct connection might fail if not configured correctly

Fix:

  1. For live stores, search for “IDEQO” in the Shopify App Store and click “Install”
  2. Follow the installation flow to connect your store

If an integration becomes disconnected:

  1. Go to Integrations (/integrations)
  2. Find the disconnected integration (it will show as “Inactive” or have an error badge)
  3. Click Reconnect or Connect
  4. Log in to the platform
  5. Grant permissions again
  6. The integration should reconnect successfully
  • Don’t revoke permissions - If you revoke IDEQO’s access on the platform, the connection will break
  • Don’t change passwords frequently - Some platforms invalidate tokens when passwords change
  • Monitor connection status - Check your integrations regularly for any issues

Make sure your platform accounts meet requirements:

  • Instagram: Business or Creator account, linked to Facebook Page
  • Facebook: Page (not profile), you’re an admin
  • LinkedIn: Personal Profile or Company Page (admin required)
  • YouTube: Channel created and verified
  • TikTok: Active account with video posting enabled
  • Pinterest: Active account (Business account recommended for analytics)

If you’ve tried everything and still can’t connect:

  1. Note the error message - Write down the exact error you see
  2. Check browser console - Look for JavaScript errors (F12 → Console)
  3. Note the platform - Which platform are you trying to connect?
